Was curious about the Mr. Bumpus who accompanied George Cleveland to Cape Fullerton 1913. The noted biologist, Hermon C. Bumpus (Sr, 1862-1943) was Director of the American Museum of Natural History, New York, and well-known to George Comer during his voyages to Cape Fullerton & collections for the Museum. Thought perhaps H.C. Bumpus, Jr (b. 1888) and a student at Columbia University in 1910 & 1911 might be the mysterious Mr. Bumpus. The younger Mr. Bumpus has a passport application (1910) on Ancestry.com -- signed by George Comer, East Haddam, CT as witness! Congratulations on a great website!
